(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Thursday, August 29 at 10 am., Mayor Muriel Bowser and education leaders will celebrate the first day of pre-K for DC Public Schools (DCPS) at Garfield Elementary School.
Mayor Bowser will tour the newly renovated Garfield Elementary School, which recently underwent a $60.5 million modernization. The revitalization has transformed the interior of this historic building while preserving its distinctive character and external features. The upgraded facility, focused on sustainability, includes Ward 8’s first “teaching kitchen” and showcases public art throughout the interior and exterior.
As families and caregivers settle into the new school year, they are encouraged to explore the 2024 Back to School Guide at backtoschool , which provides all the essential information needed for a successful school year.
